Family Members: Mother: Marigold Evans, owns and runs a bakery Father: Richard Evans (deceased) Siblings: Petunia Evans, works as a desk clerk at Grunnings in London
History: On Valentines Day, February 14th, 1953, two young muggles met and fell in love. Richard Evans hailed from Ireland, a tall, well-built man with the stereotypical Irish bright red hair. Marigold Penns was a recent graduate of Oxford, a slightly plump woman with curly blonde hair and bright green eyes. They met in a pub in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne when she was short some money for her drink, and he lent her the two pence she needed. From there, they just ‘clicked’.
Married two years later, Richard and Marigold settled down in a small cottage by the sea, a good forty-five minute drive south of Newcastle. Richard got a job at a bank in Newcastle and Marigold opened a local bakery, and it was not long until their first child, Petunia, came into the world, kicking and screaming on November 19, 1956. From there, life continued on happily for the little Evans family.
Lily Marie Evans was born on April 7, 1960. Instantly her father’s favourite, as she was the daughter to inherit his bright red hair, Lily’s childhood was spent full of picnics and walks by the sea, throwing rocks at seagulls with Petunia – though Lily always missed on purpose, not wanting to hurt the birds – and various other activities. At the age of six, she began primary school – her father would drive her and Petunia each morning on his way to work, and they’d get a ride home with family friends or walk. Whenever they walked, Petunia would hold Lily’s hand and tell her all the ‘scandalous’ things girls in her class had done that day, while Lily listened attentively, skipping alongside her older sister.
Everything was normal in the Evans family – with the exception of a few exploding glasses and Lily saying she’d woken up floating above her bed when she was seven – until one faithful day when Lily was eight, and bent over to look at something in the middle of the road. The small object was so entrancing that Lily didn’t realize the truck barreling toward her till her mother screamed. Eight-year-old Lily looked up in time to see the giant red monster right in front of her, and closed her eyes to await the impact, but it never came. When she opened her eyes again, the truck had passed her, continuing at its pace as if it had driven right through her, and her mother was white in the face, as if she’d seen Lily jump up high enough in the air to miss the truck entirely – which she had. Settling herself with the idea that the truck had swerved to avoid Lily, although a small part of her argued it would’ve been impossible, Mrs. Evans didn’t mention the incident to Lily, but made Lily keep the object she’d been looking at – a small piece of sea glass – as a reminder to always be careful.
When Lily was eleven, a letter addressed to her bedroom, third door from the stairs, second floor, Evans Cottage, came – via owl. The letter was brief, informing her that she’d been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as well as a list of school supplies she’d need to buy. And then it began. Lily was keen to go, Mr. and Mrs. Evans were skeptical of its existence, and Petunia was upset that she hadn’t received a letter.
Eventually it was decided that Lily would go, and after sending the owl off with a note to 'this Headmaster chap' about where Lily would go to get such school supplies and other various questions Mr. Evans had, a journey to Diagon Alley was in order. Mrs. Evans took Lily and Petunia into London, and Lily found the Leaky Cauldron at the address Headmaster Dumbledore had specified, and with some help from the bar tender, the two muggles and one witch found themselves in Diagon Alley.
The entire day was spent exploring every shop to the most possible extent, studying every item for sale curiously, not just the ones Lily would require for school. They bought odd flavoured ice cream at Florean Fortescue’s, marveled over the idea of flying broomsticks in Quality Quidditch Supplies, and were amazed as Petunia tripped over the invisible Invisibility Section in Flourish & Blotts. Seeing all these amazing magical things only caused Petunia's spite and jealousy for Lily to grow, and by the time the family saw her off at the barrier between platforms nine and ten at Kings Cross, Petunia barely gave Lily a hug goodbye.
Lily's journey into the Wizarding world would cause a strain between her and her sister, one that would continually be stretched, until Petunia could no longer stand the sight of her sister. Her first year flew by in a wind of textbooks, exams, and new friends. She was sorted into Gryffindor, although she had thought Ravenclaw would have suited her better, and achieved top marks in the class. She didn't spend much time making friends, but Lily came home happily for summer vacation, and each night would read her mother and father a few pages from her textbooks.
Her second through fourth years flew by in similar fashion, choosing books and studying over friends. Quite frankly, Lily found the dramatic scenes that occurred in Gryffindor Tower a bit too strenuous for her. Not that she never spoke to her dorm-mates at all - in fact she was on quite good speaking terms with all of them, but she never let them get close. After learning of the importance of blood in the Wizarding world, Lily had decided that friends weren't worth her time, as they'd probably end up betraying a 'mudblood' like her anyways. Her summers were spent on the beach with muggle friends or helping her mother in the bakery, watching football with her father. In fifth year she became a prefect, and her hatred for James Potter reached its peak one day by the lake when he was bullying Severus Snape, who Lily had never really liked, but still felt sorry for.
She took her O.W.L.s and received top marks – all O’s – and spent another summer under the sun. Her sixth year passed with little incident, once more dedicated to books and study, and once again she received top marks in her classes, but when she returned home, the scene was quite somber.
Her father had come down with a rather serious illness, a rare sort of blood cancer, and was not expected to live through the summer. Of course, Mr. Evans refused to believe ‘such tosh’ as he put it, and the family vacationed in Spain briefly before Mr. Evans reluctantly decided that he ought to be closer to his doctor. In the days before her father's death, Lily watched as all her father's old friends from school and work flooded the house to visit and spend time with Richard Evans before he faded away. Watching her father's friends crowd around him, hugging him, reminiscing about the old days, Lily wondered if she would ever have friends who would do the same for her.
In mid-July, Richard Evans passed away at the age of forty-two, leaving behind a heartbroken family. Lily suddenly felt desperately lost and decided she wouldn’t return to Hogwarts that year, and spend time with her mother instead. Mrs. Evans refused, especially when, mid-August, Lily received a letter informing her she would be Head Girl. In the days after her father died, Lily's desire for close friends grew, and though she was sad for the loss of her father, she liked to believe that her dad was still looking out for her, and had taught her an important lesson; that friends would be the ones to make your last few hours the best of your life.
Lily returns to Hogwarts for her seventh year with a weighing sadness over the loss of her father and the responsibilities of Head Girl, but is determined that this year, she'll make friends to last a lifetime.

About You
Name: Lia Age: 16 Email Address: spazzyneedsalife@yahoo.com How did you find Riddikulus? I talked to you... How long have you been RP'ing for? No clue. At least a few years. Code: Riddikulus, RME
About Your Character
Name: Lily Marie Evans Canon or Original?: Canon Age & Year: 17, 7 Birth Date: April 7, 1960 Blood Type: Muggle-born Wand: Willow, 10 1/4", swishy (nice wand for charm work) Pet: coming..
House: Gryffindor Why: In all honesty, Lily always thought she was more of a Ravenclaw - but she's a Gryffindor for a reason. She's brave enough to stand up for herself and others, voice her opinions, and never shys away from an argument.
Physical Appearance: Since birth, people have always been able to say that Lily Evans is indeed as pretty as a flower, though she herself disagrees wholeheartedly. However, the name Lily is quite deceptive. With a name like Lily, or Petunia for that matter, one would envision a plain looking girl, and in Petunia's case, it's true, but in reality, Lily's looks are so far from plain you'd laugh at the irony. If one were to look around a crowded room for Lily Evans, she would stick out like a sore thumb. Why, you ask?
The first distinctly vibrant thing about Lily is her hair, which is a deep auburn that floats in gentle waves down past her shoulders. When she was younger, children on the playground would tease her, telling her that her head was on fire, or calling her carrot top for the slight orange tint her hair carries. In it's wavy state, it is nearly impossible to deal with, so Lily often has it pulled up in a messy ponytail or bun, but occasionally she finds the time to straighten it or curl it into corkscrew ringlets, which flatter her high cheek-bones.
Her skin is rather pale white, which would almost seem sickly were it not for her bright, glowing nature. She blames on the rainy and cloudy weather for most of the year in Britain, and the lack of sunlight. Sadly, with her fair skin, whenever there is sunlight, she ends up with a nasty skin burn and resembles a tomato, a trait that comes with her infamous red hair. As a muggle, she wore a brace as a child for her teeth, but when she arrived at Hogwarts she tried to magically straighten them. Of course, they didn't turn out perfectly, her bottom row slightly crooked, and she has a chip on her front tooth after slipping on the steps of her school in primary and banging her chin. Two full cupid-bow lips hide her teeth, a natural raspberry colour.
Her eyebrows are carefully sculpted and maintained to accentuate her next most noticeable feature, almond-shaped emerald eyes. They are truly the gateway to her mind and emotions, and can manage several expressions all by themselves, varying from one extreme to the other. Her eyes often sparkle with kindness, except, of course when James Potter is around, which causes her face to contort into a rather fearsome expression. Separating her eyes is a small, pointed nose scattered with freckles that spread out evenly onto the balls of her cheeks.
Other than her eyebrows (which Lily maintains purely because of Petunia's uni-brow experience) and her fingernails, which are always carefully manicured and painted in a variety of patterns, Lily takes very little care in her appearance. She's quite short, standing at about five-foot-four and is naturally slender and petite. Despite her size, she is quite curvy, a trait that she inherited from her mother, and her legs, though short, are quite muscular, as Lily enjoys running as a way of clearing her mind. This also keeps her quite athletic, but she has never considered Quidditch as an activity and prefers muggle sports like football.
Despite her lively colouring, Lily doesn't flaunt her beauty; in fact, she doesn't believe she has any. She dresses in a style flattering to her figure but not in anything particularly revealing. Most often you'll find her clad in blues and greens, of various shades, as those colours accentuate her looks best. She wears a minimal amount of make-up, normally only some chap stick and mascara.
Overall, she is not very fond of her looks; as a girl who prefers to blend in with the crowd and not draw attention to herself, and her looks make it hard for her to fulfill such a wish. The attention causes her to be slightly insecure about her appearance, but she's never bothered to change it, purely because her mother would kill her and because she's decided that anyone who can't see past her physical appearance obviously isn't worth her time.
Personality: Lily was raised in a very tolerant household, causing her to be very accepting of people's differences. She holds no prejudices against people for being of different blood, race, religion, or sexuality, only against those she finds utterly repulsive - like James Potter. She simply cannot stand people who seem to believe that they are above everyone else, because in Lily's eyes, they aren't. She believes strongly that everyone was born equally, which is an odd sentiment in the Wizarding world considering the importance of family and background, but being a muggle-born, Lily sees no problem. She tends to see the world in rose-tinted glasses, always looking for and believing in the best of things, no matter how bad, which often causes her expectations of people to be shattered. But she is persistent, and eventually returns to her normal and friendly, optimistic, and perhaps somewhat naïve state.
Lily is naturally a quiet and thoughtful person, and takes a long time to trust people. Once she does, she has very high expectations for her friends, which often are almost impossible for anyone to live up to. When her friends don't live up to her expectations, she is heartbroken, which is what causes her to be so selective in the first place. She constantly feels insecure in the presence of those who make her feel inferior, which is why she stands up against them. In fact, standing up for herself or others (whether she likes them or not, and whether they feel the same way or not) is the only time when she truly looses her docile nature. Saying it comes with the hair, it's hardly an excuse for her horrible temper, which she normally is able to keep in check except in special circumstances.
As a friend, Lily can be one of the best. Although sometimes she allows herself to be swept away in her own problems, she always there to patiently listen or lend a shoulder to cry on. Exceptionally loyal, she'll take her friend's side even when they've been wrong, but is often the one to offer an honest, but gentle opinion. Lily is very careful with her choice of words, and likes to think the conversation through before it even begins. She is quite witty however, and her arguments with Potter tend to bring out the best in her, purely because words just spill from her mouth and she isn't so reluctant when insulting him.
The subject of her family is a very touchy one for Lily. She loves her mother and Petunia deeply, misses her father, and wishes she could have the friendship she lost with Petunia back. She feels a deep guilt for Petunia hating her, and often goes out of her way to please her sister.
Lily takes her studies and any sort of responsibility very seriously. As a muggle-born in a somewhat prejudiced world, she has a need to prove herself, which she does by obtaining top marks in almost all her classes, in addition to juggling prefect duties and the several clubs she monitors. She studies hard, but is also naturally smart, and is known as a know-it-all by some of the students, which hurts her slightly, but she ignores it by deciding that they're jealous. She has loved reading since she was a child, especially romance novels, the trashy ones she found in Petunia's room when she was twelve. Ashamed by their names and rather inappropriate story-lines, Lily hides them from the rest of the world, but enjoys the idea of a love so strong that you'd be willing to die for the other person, and dreams of a love like that for herself, some day, even if her realistic side tells her no such thing exists.
The Storyline « Result #3 on Mar 8, 2005, 5:03am »
As you might have guessed already, we are focusing on the Marauder's Era. This is the time when Harry's father was alive with his school friends. Hogwart's was also the place where Harry's mom, Lily, and James end up dating. The Marauder's were James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew. They were very well known amongst Hogwarts for the pranks they pulled weekly.
Many things have happened between the Marauders over the years, and now it's their final year at Hogwarts, and they want to make it worthwhile. Here are somethings that have happened in the past that could help shape what we could role play in their last year.
First Year The Marauder's first year at Hogwarts was more the beginning of trying to become the legends they already were, pranksters. They would do small tricks but as the years progressed they would gradually make them bigger. The first year was just the starting point of the troubles they would do later on.
Second Year: On the Marauder's second year, they realize why Remus made those monthly disappearances. They resolve this problem by learning how to become Anamigi. Knowing that it could take several years to master the magic required to do the process right, the Marauder's start right away.
Third Year: It was the Marauder's third year before people associated the names 'James and Sirius" as practical jokers. Although they have this title, people think highly of them.
Fifth Year: This was the year the Marauder's had been waiting for since their second year, when they found out that Remus was a werewolf. After the many years of studying, the Marauders had finally become Animagi. They then began to accompany Remus when the full moon was out.
Sixth Year: Severus Snape was led to a joke that Sirius thought of. Severus was always curious about where Remus went, and Sirius found out about it. So he decided to lead Sirius to The Shrieking Shack and face Remus when he was in his werewolf form. James found out, luckily, and saved his life. After that incident Remus and Sirius' friendship fainted a bit. Sirius also decided to run away from home because he couldn't stand his family anymore. They end up disowning him and he then started to live with the Potters.
Now this is when we will pick up. Sirius is now living with James and is being treated as a second son by Mr. and Mrs. Potter. James is now Head Boy but he hasn't realized that Lily was named Head Girl also. It's just the end of the summer, which is where we'll pick up. If things get slow then we'll just skip ahead to the Hogwart's Express or The Welcoming Feast.
There aren't many things that happen in their 7th year, which leaves it up to us for what we could role play. Any suggestions then please post it in the suggestion forum.
I've noticed that in other boards, they either don't role play classes, or they just give out assignments. I've decided that we should role play the classes instead. So what this will mean is that each house will get different schedules on what classes they have for the day. The students are responsible to go to the classes, or points will be taken away. This way teachers can also role play, instead of just giving off assignments.
The class schedules will be posted as soon as we have some teachers and enough students to start role playing.
To make sure that you've read this please put, "RME" in the space for "Code:"
The News Fader « Result #6 on Mar 6, 2005, 9:01pm »
Since the news fader is an option on the board, I decided to use it. This is where I will be putting the day we're roleplaying so there will be no confusion. Here is how the days are going to work in Riddikulus.
One weekday in Riddikulus equals two weeks in real time. The news fader will be used to let people know what day it is. I will also put how many more days until we switch to another day. This is to help people know when to wrap up their role plays.
For the weekend it's going to change. One weekend equals three weeks in real time. This is so we have more time to go in depth. There is also a calender on this website. Please make sure to check it often because that is where I will be posting the events that we have here. Check it at least once a week.
This should give us plenty of time to start and finish our role plays. If this is confusing then please PM me.
Rules and Regulations « Result #7 on Mar 5, 2005, 5:12pm »
General Rules
Respect all of the choices made by the Moderators and Administrators. If you do not agree with what they decided then talk to an Administrator. If you don't agree with what the Administrator decides, tough luck. That doesn't mean that we are not open to suggestions. We definately could use some suggestions for this site and we will welcome them with open arms.
Respect the people you role play with. I don't want to hear, "Oh some one did this...". It's very childish and immature. Since this is a literate to advance board I want nothing of it.
Remeber that in Riddikulus we role play the past. I don't want anything about Harry or Hermione, because they don't exsist yet. Just stick to the story line provided.
I know that all of us have a life and sometimes life needs us for a certain amount of time. I understand that, but please make sure to let us know that you won't be here for an extended amount of time.
If you don't post in a matter of three weeks and have not let us know that you have gone off somewhere I will not hesitate to delete your account. If you are a canon character this will go down to two weeks. I want this board to move along and for that I need consistant role players.
Role Playing Rules
[list] [*]Do not get involved in a role play before your character has been accepted. If I catch anyone doing this then I will automatically delete the account and refuse the application.
[*]Just a forewarning. Moderators and administrators have the right to refuse an application if they do not think that it meets the standards of Riddikulus. This is a literate to advanced site and I would like to keep it that way.
[*]There is a three character limit in this site. This means that you can only have three characters in all. You cannot go off and make another account to get more characters.
[*]To make sure that all the houses have enough students I have decided that if you chose to have more than one character they can not be in the same house or year. This means if you already have a character who is in Hufflepuff and is a 6th year, you can't have a Gryffindor who is also in the 6th year. There are no exceptions.
[*]Please don't god-mode in here. This is a literate to advanced board so I trust that you know what this means.
[*]I don't want any original characters that are the long lost brothers or what not of canon characters. We follow the book as much as we can. The book doesn't mention anything of that, so none will be allowed.
[*]No Mary-Sues. Once again if you're literate to advanced you know what I mean.
[*]When writing the application, please use the form I provided.
[*]There is a post minimum of three paragraphs. When I say three paragraphs I mean three well written paragraphs. For a guideline each paragraph should have 4 to 6 sentences.
[*]Please post in past tense third person. This means there will be no "I walk down the hall and stare at the painting outside." Instead, "She walked down the hall and stared at the painting outside." Simple enough.
To make sure that you have read all of the rules enter the word 'Riddikulus' where it says 'Code:'.
